Blasting Through Australia’s Rugged Terrain

In 2015, we traveled to Karratha, Australia, to introduce some updates to our Twin Ballast Tamper and Ballast Blaster Undercutters. These products were used by Rio Tinto, one of the world’s largest mining companies, and mounted on Railmax Hi Rail Excavators. With over 40 trains moving to and from the port daily, combined with extreme summer weather, their tracks require constant maintenance.

As the operator cuts and removes the fouled materials using the DymaxRail Ballast Blaster, the other Railmax machine awaits fresh ballast before tamping.

Reza was an excellent hand and kept Scott from causing too much disruption. 

Upon our return, we visited Tasmania to meet with other members of the Railmax team. 

We also explored Dampier and got to watch the locals string up a chunky Tiger Shark!  

Can’t believe that was almost a decade ago. It’s crazy to think how time flies when you’re having fun!
