KEY FEATURES

WHAT’S THE SMALLEST MACHINE THE SERIES 21 WILL RUN ON?
The Series 21 is configured for hydraulic excavators as small as 5 tons, making it one of the few tamper attachments rated for compact carriers in rail service. It also fits backhoe loaders (Class 10 and 20), grapple trucks, and rail cranes. For crane applications, longer tamping tines are available as an option.
CAN I USE A TAMPER ATTACHMENT FOR RAILROAD CRANE WORK?
Yes — the Series 21 is specifically configured for crane rail applications. Longer tines are available to reach the required tamping depth from a crane-mounted position, and the 270° rotation or tiltrotator compatibility gives the operator the positioning range needed when working from above the track rather than beside it. WHAT DOES SINGLE-SIDE TAMPING MEAN, AND WHEN DO I NEED IT?
The Series 21’s bolt-on tines can be removed to run only the left or right side of the workhead. This lets operators tamp one side of a tie at a time in locations where a full spread won’t fit — next to a switch rod, near a structure, or in any clearance situation where inserting both tine sets simultaneously isn’t possible. It’s a minor hardware change that avoids having to bring a different tool to the job.

Your machine will require the following (2x) circuits to operate the attachment. It also requires a drain line for the motor circuit. This attachment is provided with an electro-hydraulic valve to power the rotation circuit. Installation of the cabling kit is required prior to use. If your machine does not have the correct number of hydraulic circuits or controls please contact your sales representative to discuss alternative solutions for setup of the attachment.
