Tie Ejector Solution: Custom Built for Union Pacific Railroad

When the Union Pacific Railroad needed an efficient solution to help load rail ties into their tie cages, they turned to DymaxRail. 

Previously, it would take nearly 4 days to load ties into the cages on 1 car.

Our tie shooter attachment cut the time to ½ a day. 

Here’s how it works:

STEP 1

The operator loads the railway ties into the attachment chutes using a grapple truck.

STEP 2

The operator then squeezes the ties and drives to the cage to begin loading. 

STEP 3

Once the ties are approximately halfway into the cage, the operator activates the 3rd function lever, and a hydraulic push ram shoves the ties the rest of the way.

Results

This custom solution, designed for a Caterpillar 966M wheel loader with a Fusion coupler, provided 8x more production than their previous methods!
