Track time is the hardest thing to get on a railroad. The DymaxRail Tie Inserter helps crews make the most of it—changing 20 to 50 ties per hour, depending on the machine and operator. It attaches quickly to excavators and backhoes, allowing crews to mobilize fast and change out ties without needing a full production tie machine. Unlike a production tie machine, the excavator or backhoe can easily get on and off track, move between work areas, and handle spot repairs.
Every model includes dual-pivot jaws with HD hydraulic cylinders and carbide-protected tie pads for wood tie applications. Choose between 360° rotation systems or tiltrotator coupler versions compatible with SMP, Engcon, Steelwrist, and Rototilt.
Optional accessories like the Whale Fin Blade for bridge deck work and the Ballast Rake for cribbing turn the tie inserter into a true multi-function workhead. For concrete tie applications, optional bolt-on rubber type pads are also available.

Whale Fin Blade Attachment
DymaxRail Tie Inserters feature optional bolt-on whale fin for working from high railed position on bridge decks or in congested worksites. Operators can blade ballast and insert ties in congested worksite conditions. Whale fin can be removed when not in use.
Ballast Rake with Spear Point
Optional bolt-on spear point breaks up deteriorated ties and cribs ballast during tie changeouts. It mounts directly to the tie inserter workhead and removes when not in use. A full ballast rake assembly is also available.
Concrete Tie Pad
Bolt-on rubber-type pads for handling concrete railway ties.

CAN A TIE INSERTER WORK ON A BRIDGE DECK?
DymaxRail offers a bolt-on whale fin blade that attaches to the tie inserter workhead for bridge deck and congested track work. The whale fin lets operators blade ballast and insert ties from a hi-railed position without switching attachments. It removes when not in use. This option is unique to DymaxRail — most brands don’t offer a bridge deck solution as part of the tie inserter itself.
