HYDRAULIC REQUIREMENTS
The Rail Rider X2 operates directly from the standard excavator travel and auxiliary controls. 

For 25T-class excavators, the system utilizes a manual diverter valve to control raising and lowering of the railgear. During loading and unloading, this valve isolates the rail drive circuit to prevent unintended rail drive operation. Once the railgear is fully lowered, a secondary valve set directs hydraulic flow to the rail drive system and hydraulic stabilizers, if equipped.

FAQ

No new controls to learn. The X2’s hydrostatic rail drive operates through the excavator’s existing travel controls, giving the operator full control of speed, braking, and performance on rail. 
Yes. The Rail Rider X2 is available with hydraulic rail clamps and stabilizer systems, allowing operators to perform many tasks directly from the rail position without constantly repositioning the machine or setting the excavator down off the rail. 
The X2-25T platform delivers true fleet flexibility, letting a 20–25 ton excavator move between rail and off-track work while remaining a standard, sellable machine once the gear is removed at day’s end. A lower center of gravity combined with optional stabilizer systems gives operators a strong, stable foundation for heavy-duty rail work — without the undercarriage widening that other systems require. Twin-drive power adds exceptional towing capability for moving rail carts, rounding out a platform built for serious rail production without sacrificing the excavator’s versatility.
Traditional conversions often permanently modify the excavator undercarriage. The X2 takes a different approach with a removable attachment-based system designed to reduce machine alteration while improving flexibility and preserving machine value.
